The final week

Image
To put it simply, I can't really explain what I am feeling right now. On the one hand I feel relieved that I can finally go home, go back to work and see my family again, but on the other hand it feels like I am leaving a part of me in Denmark. I am among the last of the people to leave Denmark, and I hate it. Everyone I know is slowly leaving, and the once bright and rambunctious group (in a positive way) is now split, broken and simply kaput. This week was a mess, but a good mess, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Just for fun, we went Kart racing, and I went with Martijn and Tobi to the Moesgaard musuem (which is a big recommend). I visited my old internship, and we had our big last BBQ with the entire class. My presentation on Monday went really well too, and I passed the entire course. Yet, now I am at the end, and I feel like I could have done so much more, done so many more things. I don't know, I think it is just the feeling of the end kicking in. Denmark made me a bett...

Project

I do not have much to report, as I have been busy working on my final project. This is what has had me occupied in the last two weeks, and I have not been out much. The project will be presented today, and we have a fun presentation planned. We shall talk about how to incorporate important teaching methods in teaching nature for all ages and on how to do it for people with a disability. This week is planned with a lot of fun and cool activities. I hope to see all of you next week when I am back in the Netherlands!

Kayaking and icecream

Image
Last week we had phenomenal weather here, and I was outside for most of the day, every day. It was not the most eventful week but I did do a lot. I went kayaking with some friends at the docks, and I went out for Ice cream multiple times. We also went out to sea for a day of school and I had a nice long swim in the water. The water was nice and the waves were great too, but the ending sucked, as I had sand and salt on every inch of my body.

Parental Visit and period 3

Image
Last week we started on our third period, kicking off with the topic democratic education. We talked about how students would get education if they had the choice in what they would want to learn, and if teachers were open to these topics. I myself had to make a presentation about how certain youth that are not in school or are not working could help their social standing with art. That was certainly an interesting topic as I myself did not know a lot about that. My parents also visited together with my aunt and uncle, and we had a great weekend. Saturday we visited Aarhus itself, and Sunday we had a great walk in a local nature reserve. It was good to see some family again, and I am really happy that I still had the chance to see them and show them what I have been doing here in person.

Friend visit and portfolio

Last week was a lot of fun. Firstly, I had my portfolio graded, and had to subsequentially defend it. I had a small presentation prepared with Tobi, and I got asked a few questions about it. I was happy to hear that I passed. The day after, my friends arrived in the evening. We had dinner together and went for a walk after. While Geocaching, we found 2 guns hidden under a tree. We called the police, and had to deal with that for about an hour. Afterwards we played a game. Friday we went into the city, bought some stuff and walked around. I bought a really good board game, and that is basically what we played that evening. Saturday was the day we went to LEGOLAND, and if I have to be honest, it was a let down. The problem was that it was catered towards young children, and that was sadly not enough for us to entertain ourselves properly. I still had fun though. Sunday we had a barbeque, and that went really well. They left yesterday, and I feel like I had a really good week. I was...

Wonder day , bbq and project writing

Image
This week I had wonder day, A day where we had to plan activities for the entire class in lieu of a normal school day. We planned a survival day where among other things groups had to make tools, scavenge for food and build a shelter. It went well, the weather was nice, and I was genuinely impressed what every group made. We also had a barbeque this week. I was grillmaster, and other than everything taking incredibly long because of the coals, I had a great time. It was also with a smaller group than I was used to so that made everything a lot better for me. Our project for internship also had to be turned in last week, but I finished it early and enjoyed two days of sun before while everyone else was working.

Last week of internship and King's day

Image
This week I had my last internship week. It was really nice, and we did several activities. Catching animals in the water with the children, baking cookies and our last activity: Cooking on the fire outside. I had a tremendous time at internship, and when I left it I even got a collection of drawings from them. Tobi and I going back there before the end of my stay here in Aarhus. Martijn hosted a King's day party this week and that was also a lot of fun. I met some of his friends from the Netherlands and they were really nice. All in all a nice week.
